While many of us know of famous bald men, such as Bruce Willis or Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, it is often a less common look sported by female celebrities. With this being said, there are plenty of female celebrities that have gone with a shaved look over the years. Female celebrities that do sport the look often do so to make a statement or to defy gender norms of long, flowing hair for women. Here are a few of our favorites:
Amber Rose: Allegedly inspired by Irish singer Sinead O’Connor’s shaved head in her “Nothing Compares 2 U” video, the actress and model has been sporting a shaved look for many years.
Natalie Portman: The Black Swan and Thor actress had a shaved look for much of the 2006 movie V for Vendetta, in which she has her head shaved on camera. Clearly, based on her award nominations for this film as well as the film’s success and legacy, Natalie’s shaved head has proven to be an iconic image.
Sinead O’Connor: The “Nothing Compares 2 U” star has seen no shortage of controversy over the years, but her shaved head has remained a consistent feature of her public persona. In a 2014 interview with Oprah, she that it was initially done as a rebellious act, and the look has stuck ever since.
Kristen Stewart: Kristen buzzed her hair for the 2017 film Underwater, a move that she says was done partially out of aesthetics, and partially out of necessity. Playing an engineer onboard an oil rig, Stewart noted the look’s practicality and the fact that the role required her to wear a helmet most of the time.
