If there was a pill we could take or procedure that we could undergo to return our hair to its full glory, we would be the first in line.
But it isn’t that simple.
Hair loss is notoriously hard to treat.
Pills can have dire side effects. Shampoos have limited success. Strip harvesting often leaves a noticeable, unsightly scar.
A newer treatment that is becoming increasingly popular is Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE).
This hair transplantation method takes individual groups of healthy hair follicles unaffected by male pattern baldness and grafts them to the area of the scalp that needs it. Ideally, the transplanted hair will take root and begin to grow on its own again indefinitely.
This method isn’t cheap—often about 50% more than the strip harvesting method—but for some, it’s worth the price to not risk an unsightly scar.
Though as previously noted, no method is perfect.
FUE isn’t as effective as Strip Excision Harvesting. Graft survival rate for this procedure can dip into the 70% range.
More and more people are realizing that one method is simply not enough.
For the best results, you must attack the problem on all fronts.
Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) is the perfect option to compliment the Follicular Unit Extraction procedure by:
Adding Density
Hair transplants—even at their most successful—may not give you the results you are looking for. Scalp Micropigmentation can fill in the areas of the scalp was missed or rejected by the transplant. The addition of extra pigment among existing or regrown hair enhances the procedure giving the illusion of a fuller head of hair and a more youthful appearance.
Scar Coverage
While Follicular Unit Extraction does not leave the same large, distinct scar as Strip Excision Harvesting, some recipients complain of circular white scarring at the site of the transplant. At Hairline Ink, we have two methods of scar coverage: We can cover the scar with pigment to mimic hair follicles, or completely hide the scar by blending it into the surrounding skin with our groundbreaking new treatment: camouflage ink.

Stop Gap until Regrowth
It is common for the transplanted hair to fall out shortly following the procedure due to shock. It may take upwards of six months for the transplanted hair to begin its first cycle of growth. Some clients elect to get our micropigmentation services before their FUE procedure as a stop gap with the added benefit of a fuller look compared to the transplant alone as the hair begins to grow in.
