Many people think scalp micropigmentation is the same as a tattoo, which can bring to mind intimidating images of huge needles and severe pain. However, scalp micropigmentation is extremely different from regular head tattooing. Our professional specialists use a much smaller needle in incredibly precise ways to achieve unbelievably realistic results with minimal levels of pain.
Our Process
Our needle, called a “3-point-micro-needle”, is 75% smaller than even the smallest available tattooing needle. The needle is so tiny that, even upon close inspection of the scalp, our impressions are indistinguishable from actual hair follicles. It is also a single-use needle, so you never need to worry about sanitation.
We use this tiny needle in a very particular way to give you the most realistic possible results. We use a very gentle technique to inject ink directly into the dermis. The dermis is a solid layer of skin which prevents the dispersion of the ink. This, combined with the size of the needle, is what allows us to create so many tiny dots that don’t fade.
Some companies are only able to inject ink into the epidermis, which over time allows the ink to disperse, creating an undesirable shaded effect instead of the individual hair follicle appearance you want.
Furthermore, the small size of our needles and the gentle technique means that this process is relatively painless. Our clients generally report a pain level of 2 out of 10. This can be slightly increased for people who have scars from hair transplants, due to a generally increased sensitivity of the area. Comparatively, tattoos are usually considered to be a 5 out of 10 on the pain scale, with head tattoos consistently considered one of the worst.
