It's Time to Rediscover Confidence

Does Nanogen Nanoguard really work for hair loss?

Does Nanogen Nanoguard really work for hair loss?

Nanoguard is a topical hair-loss treatment manufactured by the UK company Nanogen. The serum is meant for daily use, and the company claims its active ingredients reduce the loss of hair, help with hair growth, and target areas affected by male pattern baldness.

Dihydrotestosterone, also known as DHT, is the universally recognized culprit of unwanted hair loss. Nanogen, the company that produces Nanoguard, says the shampoo works to lower DHT levels on your scalp to keep your hair follicles and scalp healthier overall. The suite of Nanogen products claims to prevent damage to the follicles in the scalp and slow the shedding of hair. But does it really work?

Nanoguard – Does it Work?

Most people who suffer from some form of hair loss have researched products like Nanoguard and others, wondering about their effectiveness. Do they really work? Are they worth the money? Nanogen produces an array of Nanoguard products to be used in conjunction with each other in order to maximize the benefits. A quick Google search provides a curious shopper with thickening spray, treatment serums, shampoos, conditioners, and even “hair-drenching hyaluronic acid.” These products will put the average shopper back at least $100 if they buy a bundle of them, or between $10 and $30 for a single bottle of shampoo. But for the hefty ticket price, there is not a lot of scientific evidence to advocate the legitimacy of Nanoguard.

According to the description of “Nanogen Thickening Treatment Shampoo for Men”, the shampoo contains amino acids and salicylic acid. Some studies show that amino acids do wonders for hair growth because hair is made of a protein called keratin. Keratin is made up of amino acids. When your body experiences a shortage of amino acids, the protein in your hair structure could deteriorate, leading to hair breakage and slower growth.

Salicylic acid is good for hair growth because it can clean out dead cells on your scalp, which could be causing dry or irritated skin on your head. Salicylic-containing shampoos are best-known for their treatment of dandruff and dry patches of the scalp.

Because salicylic acid and amino acids both have glowing reviews pertaining to hair health, adding Nanogen Nanoguard to your daily routine is probably not a bad idea. Plus, few consumers have reported any serious side effects. But each person responds to treatments differently, so it is best to test it on a small patch of hair first to see how your body responds.

Fortunately for consumers, there is little evidence that the products manufactured by Nanogen have any reported side effects other than slight irritation of the scalp for some people. If you are considering trying Nanoguard or any of the Nanogen products, it is a good idea to test the product for a set period of time and see if it produces any results for you. While there isn’t an overwhelming amount of evidence to support its effectiveness, we never blame people for trying to find an effective treatment for their hair loss.
